Four key questions to ask when helping customers determine the optimal lock for their carts.
In other words, without an approved credential (Key, Numeric code, Proximity badge, etc..) you CANNOT gain access to the cart drawers
In other words, will you be using plastic tamper evident seals on all (or some) of the cart drawers to ensure all necessary supplies are accounted for prior to a cart’s use.
In other words, would you like staff to have access to a cart using an approved credential (Key, Numeric code, Proximity badge, etc..), but once unlocked the cart will lock itself after a predetermined period (Default is 10minutes)
In other words, do you need to be able to download “Audit Reports” from a cart to see who has gained (or tried to gain) access to a cart and at what day/time
Standard Locking Systems
Waterloo carts come standard with either a KEY LOCK, LEVER-LOCK (For use with Tamper evident plastic seals) or NO LOCK
Key Lock
Ideal for general use carts where you need the ability to restrict access
Waterloo carts are “Keyed Differently” by default, which means each cart will require it’s own unique key.
- Good solution for areas where cart contents need to be secured independently of other carts
Waterloo carts can be “Keyed Alike”, which means all carts will open using the same key.
- Good solution for areas where multiple carts have the same contents, and it is not necessary to secure them independently from other carts
- No additional charge for this option
Lever Lock
Ideal for code carts where you don’t want to restrict access and need to ensure all supplies are present without opening the cart
- Centralized lever-lock that keeps drawers secure without restricting access
- Accommodates use of tamper evident plastic seals
- Doubles as a “Transport Lock” that keep drawers closed during rapid transit to/from an event
- Eliminates possibility of supply pilferage as drawers cannot be opened when lever-lock is engaged.
- Simple gatelocks offered by other cart companies can be “Cheated” open if they have loose fitting plastic tamper evident seals.
- Unique to Waterloo Healthcare carts
Enhanced Locking Systems
Our “Standard Locks” can be enhanced or substituted with the following options:
Independent Gatelocking System
- Enhances security and/or tamper evidence of individual drawers or groups of drawers
- Can reduce time required to inventory/restock drawers as only drawers used in a procedure need to be inventoried/resupplied
- Available in both key lock or a tamper evident lock options
Mechanical Pushbutton Lock
- Eliminates need for keys
- Most economical option to go keyless
- Access code can be changed by the user
- Does NOT auto-relock
Advanced Electronic Locking Systems
Upgrade to our electronic lock options to enhance cart security and convenience (with and without Wi-Fi Capability)
Start by Adding an Electronic Keypad
- Drawers automatically relock after 10 minutes *(User adjustable)
- Tracks user access
- Users can be given unique codes should you wish to track/restrict individual access
Add a Proximity Badge Reader
- Enhances convenience for staff
- Eliminates need to enter a numeric code for access
- Most employee badges can be programmed to operate the electronic lock
Add Wi-Fi
- Best for larger cart fleets
- Eliminates need to travel cart to cart to download cart access audit reports
Add a Controlled Substance Drawer
- Ideal for anesthesia where controlled substances are used
- Requires two credentials be used to gain access to the “Controlled substance” drawer
- One credential (numeric code or proximity badge) allows access to all drawers EXCEPT the top “Controlled substance” drawer
- A Second credential (numeric code or proximity badge) is needed to gain access to the top “Controlled substance” drawer
Proximity Reader with Electronic Keypad & Controlled Substance Drawer (Wi-Fi Capable)
- 3,000 Individual Users
- Tracks last 15,000 unlock events
- Reprogramming access codes via WiFi through Lockmanager
- Auto-relock after a preset amount of time
- HID card opens all drawers except top “controlled substance” drawer
- Proximity/Employee Badge Access
NON WI-FI vs WI-FI Electronic Locking Systems
Non Wi-Fi Elock
- Add/Delete Users
- Change Auto Relock Timer – 150 Series Locks ONLY (Default is 10 mins, can be changed to 1 sec – Infinite time)
- Simply need a cart that automatically relocks
- Have a small fleet of carts
- Carts are located near each other
- Have one access code that will be shared amongst staff Do NOT need to track user access via audit trails
- Do NOT need to change cart settings or ADD/DELETE users very often
- Need the most economical electronic lock solution
ALL FUNCTIONS MUST BE PHYSICALLY PERFORMED AT EACH CART
- 8 min to make changes at each cart using lock keypad
- 2 min travel time between carts
Non Wi-Fi Elock with LockManager
- Add/Delete Users
- Change Auto Relock Timer (Default is 10 mins, can be changed to 1 sec – Infinite time)
- Access to Audit Trails (Report of all cart access history)
- Need a cart that automatically relocks
- Have a medium sized fleet of carts
- Carts are relatively near each other
- May wish to assign individual access codes to each cart user Need to be able to track user access via audit trails
- Need to be able to change cart settings or ADD/DELETE users with some frequency
- Need an economical electronic lock solution
FUNCTIONS CAN BE EXECUTED IN LOCKMANAGER FIRST BUT THE DATA MUST BE UPLOADED PHYSICALLY AT EACH CART
- 20 min to make changes to LockManager Software Database on Laptop
- 2 min upload at each cart
- 2 min travel time between carts
Wi-Fi Elock with LockManager
- Add/Delete Users
- Change Auto Relock Timer (Default is 10 mins, can be changed to 1 sec – Infinite time)
- Access to Audit Trails (Report of all cart access history)
- Ability to update all carts remotely from one location
- Need a cart that automatically relocks
- Have a larger fleet of carts
- Carts are spread widely throughout a facility
- Wish to assign individual access codes to each cart user Need to be able to track user access via audit trails
- Need to be able to ADD/DELETE users and change cart settings with frequency
- Do NOT want to travel “cart to cart” to ADD/DELETE users, update lock settings or download cart access audit trails
ALL FUNCTIONS CAN BE EXECUTED AND UPLOADED TO EACH CART REMOTELY VIA LOCKMANAGER
- 20 min to make changes to LockManager Software Database on Laptop
- NO travel time
Wi-Fi is a wireless networking technology that allows devices such as computers (laptops and desktops) and other equipment (procedure carts) to interface with the Internet.
BENEFITS OF WI-FI
Save time/more efficient • Less physical demands • Money savings long-term
Time Savings Analysis: Non Wi-Fi vs Wifi
