Waterloo Healthcare Newsletter – March 2026
Our Busy 2026 Continues Into Spring, But This Information is Too Important Not to Share

In this edition of our newsletter, we delve into what The Joint Commission (inspection body) looks for, so you can be sure your carts are ready when the time comes for inspection. We even include an interactive feature at the end so you and your team can do a pop quiz or simply review the most important points in a concise, convenient format utilizing the accordion method. After you read a question, just click on the plus sign to reveal the answer. The best part? For any incorrect or incomplete answers, just scroll up and re-read the subject matter. We plan to add this interactive feature to future articles, and hope it proves to be a useful and efficient synopsis tool.
2026 started with a bang and it isn’t going to slow down any time soon. In April alone, we have 4 events! We love the chance to see all of you in person at regional and national conferences across the country. Stay tuned to our social media to find out where we will be, and let us know if you’d like to set up a time on-site to discuss what Waterloo’s purpose-built, durable carts can do for you.
Be sure to read our article discussing how emergency department spaces that are designed for dignity can improve patient outcomes. It’s one of the ways to help send the message to these patients – who are often experiencing one of the worst and scariest days of their lives going through likely scary and unfamiliar healthcare experiences – that they are safe and in good hands.
We are proud to introduce you to our newest fleet member: an MRI-conditional and high-quality medical storage and transport cart. In the article, you’ll learn how we meticulously designed this cart for performance and built it for safety, because when safety is non-negotiable, your cart shouldn’t be either.
Warm regards,

Meeting Joint Commission expectations with your Emergency Code Carts…
The Joint Commission is an independent, nonprofit organization that accredits U.S. healthcare organizations to promote patient safety and quality of care. When it comes to code carts, The Joint Commission looks for simple but critical things: that carts are consistently stocked, properly organized, securely locked, and checked on a routine basis.
Their goal is to ensure that in an emergency, staff can access the right equipment and medications immediately, without confusion, delays, or missing items.
Big year, Full calendar, and Nationwide.
2026 is shaping up to be a busy year for Waterloo Healthcare—and we wouldn’t have it any other way. In the coming months, we’ll be exhibiting at regional and national conferences across the country, showcasing our durable, purpose-built carts designed for real clinical work.

Designing for Dignity: How Thoughtful Emergency Department Spaces Improve Patient Outcomes
Patients arriving at an emergency center often experience the same mix of emotions: pain, fear, and a distinct loss of control. Vulnerable moments like these send powerful messages: Either they’re safe and cared for, or they’re just another case to process.
Emergency department design fundamentally focuses on providing emergency care that shapes patients’ experience, influences clinician trust, and measurably impacts clinical outcomes. But there are so many emergency departments today that operate on outdated principles and within outdated spaces. Small changes—such as lighting, privacy, views to nature, and family accommodation—can make all the difference.
Waterloo Healthcare Brings Its Standard of Quality to the MRI Suite
Waterloo has been a leader in its field for decades, offering medical carts for a wide variety of professional healthcare environments, including anesthesia carts, surgery carts, and emergency carts. Waterloo takes full-facility coverage seriously and is pleased to announce a new addition to the fleet: an expansion into MRI carts. Waterloo dedicated a tremendous amount of effort into crafting durable MRI carts that can meet the requisite criteria for this specialized setting.
The strict material constraints of the MRI environment demand a purpose-built approach to cart construction. The carts use non-ferrous materials and have an HDPE construction, non-magnetic casters, and ASTM/FDA-compliant labeling to ensure safety for patients and healthcare staff at all times.
Constructed of high-grade polymer and corrosion-resistant, non-magnetic HDPE materials, the carts boast features designed for the MRI suite. An extra-wide top with integrated handles allows for ample space to place items and easy maneuverability. All surfaces on the cart are smooth for simple infection control, including the three drawers and the bulk storage area.
This cart is ideal for MRI labs, radiology, diagnostic centers, hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings. The cart offers the quality and appearance Waterloo is known for, at a price point that works for facilities of all sizes. Waterloo now covers the full spectrum of clinical cart needs and has a cart that fits any medical or healthcare environment.

“We looked at two different vendors. We felt the Waterloo staff and product was superior. I felt comfortable with the distributor sales rep Steve Watkins with DSI, and Jeremy Jones, Waterloo’s National Business Development Manager.
They were integral in helping us go live with the new carts, supporting us as we moved the old carts out and brought the new carts in. They were very ‘hands on’ and helpful.”
